Saikoro Black/Grey Low Side Table in Terrazzo with Solid Brass Details
About the Item
Our Saikoro collection is inspired by Japanese styling and we call it Saikoro because it meens “Dice” . The cubes in the Saikoro collection are like a dice.
In this case we did a new inspiration of the cubes, we made them flatter so three cubes will fit underneath a dining table.
This side table/bench is made with those flatter cubes.
It gives that cool look with a down to earth feeling.
Especially the proportions are great in this case.
It is definitely one of our more artistic pieces we’ve had so far.
The distinguished brass details in the tabel top represent the ending of all things, nothing lasts and everything passes by, the cycle of life , expressed as simple as can be, just linear, …and don’t forget the shiny part. The shining beautiful brass stands for the beauty of the journey we all go through.
This bench was made for me personally to put it in my Japanese garden to showcase my bonsai on it. But it’s so beautiful that I can’t get it over my heart to place it outside in this rainy Belgian climate and decided to put it back in the Liz collection.
It is made to put outside tough, it’s not just a furniture for interiors. It is so durable that it will last a very long time.
The build up and treatment of the piece is done all by hand, in co-opp. with the heart and brains.
The tablet is not massive terrazzo, it is much lighter and less porous and less breakable. The binding of the terrazzo and the microcement is done with polymers and not with water which gives it flexibility and more strenght.
The durability is even more upgraded by the proces that it is given during the sanding stage. The air is crystalized in the material and at a molecular level the binding of the cement is enhanced with more than 100%.
The surface will not powder over time like most concrete terrazzo's do.
After the cure of this proces it is polished until grain 3500 and treated with an invisible stain-proof product. The stones that are used are Nero Ebano and originate from Italy.
A product for maintenance is also included. When after many years the shine is gone and needs attention again, you can refurbish it and it will be new again for many years to come.8
The brass is polished to high gloss and is kept untreated. The stands will patinate over time and is part of the charme.
So this piece of furniture is not just furniture anymore, it’s more like a statement and a state of mind.
There will be only be build two in this combination modelled by Studio G1 and made by Atelier Raf for Liz Tables exclusively.
