1960s Severin Hansen coffee table in rosewood by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri. The coffee table features a beautiful rosewood pattern on the surface and Severin Hansens characteristic joints. The table has been overlooked and refinished by our cabinetmaker and is in very good condition. Danish furniture designer Severin Hansen Jr. is best remembered for his table and desk designs in the Classic, Danish Mid-Century Modern style. In the 1950s and early 1960s, his work was produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri - a furniture manufacturer located in the small town of Haslev, close to Copenhagen - as well as Dutch manufacturer Bovenkamp. Hansen's also known for his collaboration with venerable Danish porcelain company Royal Copenhagen, which produced a series of rosewood tables surfaced with ceramic tiles hand painted and glazed by artists like Grethe Helland-Hansen and Nils Thorssen...

Set of two side tables or nightstands designed by Severin Hansen for Haslev Møbelsnedkeri Denmark. The tables have a very clean, modest and simple yet elegant design and features rectangular tops with tapering legs. The set has been fully restored by our cabinetmakers and is in very good condition with only few signs of age and use. Designed by Severin Hansen Jr. with a lateral tile insert and blue tile surround by Nils Thorsson, Royal Copenhagen. Wear consistent with age and use, circa 1960, Denmark, Scandinavia. Nils Johan Thorvald Thorsson was a Swedish designer and ceramic artist born in 1898, in Esloev, Sweden and passed away in 1975. At the age of thirteen, Thorsson finished his apprenticeship at the Alumina Factory in Copenhagen, after that he went to study at the Royal Danish Academy. Later on, Thorsson was the artistic director of Alumina which he held for forty-one years where he lead a team of well-known, talented designers which included Bethe Breyen, Kari Christensen, as well as others.
