Mould - side table blue
About the Item
A part of a collection of side/coffee tables that explore the possibility of using a single mould to produce unique objects. With a stackable mould, the project studies if achieving uniqueness within a standardised process can add value to the outcome. A mould that consist of 3 parts in shapes based on a square, triangle and circle can be stacked differently each time a new piece is cast which results in all unique pieces.

Theodora Alfredsdottir
With roots in Iceland, a community with a population of 380.000, but living in amongst 9.000.000 others in London, Theodora Alfredsdottir finds herself looking for the individual within the mass throughout her work. She believes that good design is a window into the process of creating objects, in order to give the user a better understanding of what goes into bringing an object into this world, to encourage responsible consumption. The object, therefore, acts as a documentation of its manufacturing process; a record of what went on between the machine, tools, craftsman and material. Each and every product is a three-dimensional collage using shapes from Theodora’s collection of compositions of geometric shapes.
