18th Century Italian Silver Leaf Sunrays 'Group of 3' with Herkimer Diamonds
About the Item
Three 18th century Italian silver leaf sunrays with Herkimer diamonds and baroque pearls.
The sunrays were once used as part of a large sunburst or halo motif in an artistic depiction in a historic Italian church. Sunrays this big are incredibly rare to come by, especially in a group of three. The three are adorned with baroque pearls and herkimer diamonds. Herkimer diamonds are double-terminated quartz crystals famous for their diamond-like features and found only in New York.
The group of sunrays were curated and put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she found and adorned the pieces and the period shows that the Italian sunrays are originally 18th century.
Together, the sunrays create historic yet contemporary pieces to adorn any wall or grace any space.
