"INA-Casa si intende il piano di intervento dello Stato italiano, vigente tra il 1949 e il 1963 per realizzare edilizia residenziale pubblica su tutto il territorio italiano.
Una singolare caratteristica del progetto fu quella di far apporre, su tutti gli edifici realizzati, una targa in ceramica policroma (alcune delle quali realizzate da grandi artisti quali Alberto Burri, Duilio Cambellotti, Leoncillo Leonardi, Tommaso Cascella, Guerrino Tramonti, Pietro De Laurentiis, Piero Dorazio, Wladimiro Tulli) che alludesse o al tema del progetto o, più in generale, al tema della casa come luogo felice. L'applicazione delle targhe sugli immobili, per le quali erano stabilite le misure, la posizione e i prezzi massimi, era una delle condizioni per il rilascio del certificato di collaudo."
