About the Item
Mel Sage is a Southern Californian artist and woodworker. She pulls inspiration from nature and it's profound undulations in the form of real topographies with a nod to architectural site models.
Mel began her design journey by obtaining a degree in architecture and working as an architect in NYC before pursuing art full time. During her time in the architecture field, Mel fell in love with digital fabrication and spent most of her time in the wood shop making site models and experimenting with materials. Because of this, each of Mel's pieces has a unique dimensional quality.
Big Sky is modeled from topographies from the vast landscapes of Montana. It is crafted in baltic birch and maple and measures 2’x4'.
