French Silk Textile Portrait, Marie Thérèse of France, Louis XV's Daughter

French Royal painted silk textile portrait, Marie Thérèse of France, Madame D' Angoulême, Eldest daughter of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette and only surviving child. A painted sikwork portrait of Marie Thérèse of France who was the eldest daughter of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. After Louis XVIII died on 16 September 1824, and was succeeded by his younger brother, the comte d'Artois, as Charles X, Marie-Thérèse's husband was heir to the throne, and she was addressed as Madame la Dauphine. Dimensions: 12 3/4 x 11 1/2 inches x 1 3/4 inches deep Marie-Thérèse Charlotte of France (19 December 1778 ? 19 October 1851), Madame Royale, was the eldest child of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. After her marriage to her cousin, Louis Antoine, Duke of Angoulême, the eldest son of the future Charles X, she was known as the Duchess of Angoulême. She became the Dauphine of France upon the accession of her father-in-law to the throne of France in 1824.

    Superb large English silk and wool portrait, A Mother and Her Four Children, after John Hoppner R.A., circa 1810-20, Within gilt frame. Silk over linen fabric ground, silk floss, worsted wool yarn, Merino wool yarn and oil paint. A remarkable silk picture with painted sky background and each figure with a painted face and hands with the remaining portions of the picture finished in wool. The design comes from a mezzotint after John Hoppner made in the 1790s. John Hoppner specialized in painting mothers and children. The picture depicts a large standing female figure dressed in a white dress and wearing a turban. She stands by two classical columns with her four children in front of her.
