French Trompe l’Oeil Majolica Glazed Cherry Branch Wall Plaque, signed F. Perrot

About the Item

A French Palissy majolica glazed hand painted wall plaque, signed by the artist, circa 1890-1900. In the trompe l’oeil style of fool the eye, a dimensional mold showing a branching cherry limb full of fruit. Signed by the artist, F. Perrot, glazed in a beautiful deep, earthy olive green with lighter green leaves and pale pink cherries. A lovely Craqueleur surface enhances the design. Pierced on the foot rim for hanging. A large, impactful and unusual piece. 11.5 in. Diameter x 1.75 in. H The expected light age wear to the surface with a teeny glaze slip to the rim. Firing lines seen to the verso, a kiln effect in the making, not seen on the front.
