Kähler Huge Ceramic Platter Stylised Bird & Fish Motif, Gete Petersen HAK 1950s

About the Item

Huge platter by Gete Petersen for Kähler´s ceramic workshop in Denmark. The decor shows a large stylised bird in center surrounded by four stylised fishes. The platter can be used as a display piece on the table. For hanging on the wall you will need a suspension. Gete Petersen was employed at Kähler´s as a sculptor, turner and artist who decorated her own motifs from 1948 until the early 1960s. She had her own style and especially drew inspiration from the nature. The nature was not imitated directly but translated into geometric patterns which were decorated in different colors sharply separated from each other so the glazes don´t run together. Marked HAK Denmark + Gete Very good vintage condition. But please notice that there a 3 small chips around the rim as shown in photos. The chips are not visible when looking at the plate from the top. This piece is made from earthenware so it´s quite delicate and chip on these pieces are very commonly seen.
