About the Item
A 1962 mixed media drawing on board titled, Isaac, by Canadian-American artist Norman Laliberté (1925-2021). Presented in a black and gold tone wood frame, the biblical story of Isaac is portrayed in this moody figural abstract drawing. Composed of maroons, browns, and purple pastel and possibly crayon, two figures lay separated by a band of eight observers. The drawing is signed on the upper left, upper right, and on Isaac’s arm. Dated 1962 to the upper left and titled on the tag verso, the composition is on paper mounted on masonite.
Norman Laliberté was raised in Montreal Canada by French-Canadian parents. He completed his education in Chicago. His works have been in over 100 solo shows within the United States and Canada and homed in over 75 major corporate and public collections. Laliberté is known for his symbolic interpretations of love.
