18th Century Oil Painting Portrait of Petrus Chevallier

About the Item

A charming French 18th-century oil-on-canvas portrait of a pharmacist named Petrus Chevallier. Signed “Davila” verso, where it also dated “20 - 09 - 1753" and the title “Petrus Chevallier Pharmacopocus.” The frame is modern. Note that the painter left the piece unfinished: the apothecary’s left arm hasn’t been painted in.
