19th Century Framed Italian Still Life Oil of Dead Birds in Kitchen Signed
About the Item
A large 19th century oil on canvas painting by Italian artist Charles Wicker. The scene, signed in the upper right corner with Firenze below, features the result of a successful day's hunt. Set into a handsome giltwood frame, this antique still life painting depicts a variety of dead game birds strung across the wall with a single hunting trophy laying on the marble topped table alongside a half full tankard, vase of colorful blooming branches, and an assortment of fruits and vegetables. The beautiful colors, soft diffusion of light, and the artist's attention to details, lead the viewer’s eye to continually move throughout the work, bringing a heightened sense of reality to this wonderful painting.
