About the Item
An abstract oil on canvas nude painting titled Heirloom VII by American artist Carl E. Schwartz (1935-2014). Signed to the lower right corner, this painting features the body of a nude woman, lying on a blue grid-pattern with a floral orange pattern across the top of the canvas. Portions of the patterned background blend into the nude figure. Displayed in a wood frame with gold tone edge, the painting is titled to the verso.
Carl E. Schwartz was born in Detroit, Michigan, and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. Schwartz taught figure drawing and painting at the North Shore Art League for nearly 30 years before retiring in Florida.
