About the Item
Fran, the woman from whom the painting was acquired, was an antiques dealer in Sacramento. Her husband owned a fiberglass company that was hired at two different times some sort of repair/restoration work at the hotel, possibly in the pool area. The second time, some twenty years ago, he discovered the painting in a storage area, asked about it, and was given it.
Apparently, the painting had hung in the lobby for many years after its presentation in 1967, but had been relegated to storage during redecorating, and it remained there for nearly twenty years.
After having received it as a gift, the painting hung for many years in the Elk Grove General Store, a restaurant owned by Fran and her husband. Situated in a landmark building in the Elk Grove Historic District, the restaurant was decorated by many historic items from the couple's collection.
