"Crested Bird with Pomegranate, " Rare Pencil and Gouache Painting by Parzinger
About the Item
Best known for his handsome, beautifully-crafted furniture designs, much in demand today, Tommi Parzinger also painted over the span of his career. His rare, early works -- such as this charming, exquisitely finished gouache and pencil work of a crested bird resting on a pomegranate tree -- have the same polish and poise as his sideboards and lighting fixtures. This work would have been made in the 1940s, when Parzinger was establishing his reputation in New York City, creating both lines of furniture and hand-hammered flatware for discriminating clients. The frame is clearly original.
