He created background paintings for the 1951 film, An American in Paris.(Biography from Nancy Moure): Gene Grant was a Los Angeles artist represented at fifth biennial exhibition of Contemporary American Paintings, at the Virginia Museum of Art, LAT, March 24, 1946, page B 4; in group exhibition. of Artists Equity Assn. at Esther’s Alley Gallery, LAT, March 28, 1948, page C 8; repro of “A Field in France” and artist now in Paris, and exhibited at Associated American Artists – “Gene Grant is the second Los Angeles artist this season to return from a stay in France and to exhibit paintings of Paris.
