French 19th Century Paste Painting with Bouquet of Flowers in Giltwood Frame
About the Item
A French pastel floral painting from the 19th century depicting a bouquet of flowers in a vase, set in giltwood frame. Created in France during the 19th century, this painting demonstrates the mastery pastelists achieved over time, the most famous of whom was Maurice Quentin de La Tour. The painting depicts a luscious bouquet of flowers joyously arranged in a copper vase and on which a couple of butterflies are landing. Displayed on a table top, the bouquet stands out beautifully on a neutral toned background. Showcasing blue, white, red, green and soft pink tones, the painting is signed lower right. Set inside a giltwood frame with petite beads, this 19th century French pastel painting will enliven any wall, perhaps hung above a commode, side table or buffet.
