This superbly painted view of the mountains framing a river valley in northern New Mexico is attributed to Frank Guy Applegate, who lived and worked in the state during the 1920s, and is known for his watercolors -- such as this -- that present strong, abstracted views of the local landscapes, all in vivid colors and bold strokes of paint.
