"Man and Wife" 1969 oil on canvas by John Konstantin Hansegger
About the Item
This great oil on canvas was one of Hansegger's unique "Vertical/ Horizontal" series which he begun in 1948 and utilized only straight lines. The elegant simplicity of Hansegger's "Vertical/ Horizontal" technique disguises the mastery he had acheived in portraying essential truth about the human condition, and the longer you spend with this painting, the more you appreciate it.
This piece is in excellent original condition. It was exhibited in the Gallarie Pestalozzi in Switzerland in the 1970's and, along with many other pieces, was held in the artists estate until it was dispersed in 2004.
