"Nudes with Guitars", Mid Century Painting w/ Male Nudes by Christopher Clark
About the Item
Beautifully painted in tones of ruddy-burnt sienna, gray and white, this unusual painting by Christopher Clark depicts two nude guitarists -- or perhaps a single guitarist in two positions. The entire painting is gridded in white, perhaps indicating that it was the basis for a wall mural. The artist is best known for his Art Deco paintings, and indeed he worked with Donald Deskey to paint murals for Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Clark painted WPA murals in the 1930s, did illustration art for Forbes magazine, and ultimately settled down on the west coast of Florida to teach and paint. He was especially interested in the male figure, and painted portraits and nudes throughout his career.
