About the Item
Mitsuaki Sora is a well-known stone sculptor who also makes woodblock prints. In the late 1960s, his prints were of very colorful abstract shapes, such as the one listed above. Mitsuaki Sora’s prints became world renowned for its defining use of bold colors, graphic patterns and organic shapes. Sora’s works were featured in both the 1998 and 2008 Olympics and can be seen throughout many hotels in Japan. These prints are very expressive, like contrary forces the shapes are interconnected and interdependent, almost dancing to the tunes of yin-yang. Simplicity, “less is more” and yet so expressive. As this print is titled "PEACE" you can see the push and pull, blend and separate, cool and warm tones, all working together to create a harmonious balance. Thus, creating peace within the art. Like most of his work, he is able to create beautiful balance within his pieces.
