Painting of a Venetian Figure Smoking a Cigarette
About the Item
Ok this is so fun and whimsical yet beautifully done. A figure coming back from a Venetian ball having a dramatic smoke in his costume and mask. Note his cigarette holder and pointed toe are in sync! Most likely gouache or watercolor with oil stick on paper. Found in a great hand carved frame with gilt sides and hand painted mattes. Possibly signed on verso but definitely done by a great artist! Or why else the expensive frame and matte.
Reflections on glass during photography mostly on bottom of the matte. Not examined out of the frame.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Presents well, hand carved frame has some age wear scratches, matte has darkened a little. The brown paper covering the back of the frame has some water marks but did not penetrate the art.
