About the Item
Post-Impressionist-Style watercolor on canvas depicting a Sag Harbor, NY home interior scene by painter, Barbara Hadden (Sag Harbor, NY ca. 1970s).
This is a departure for the otherwise realist painter, given its abstract, yet primitive quality and bold color usage.
The piece highlights the kitchen space with lesser emphasis on the two seated figures in the foyer. Hadden's pieces not only reference a bygone era, but also emphasize landscapes, interiors, and architecture as the focal points; human subjects are scarcely seen and when they are present, as in this example, they serve as featureless backdrops.
There are a couple of scuffs to the canvas, as shown. Otherwise, the piece is in very fine, vintage condition.
