About the Item

An early work by the American realist Stephen Morgan Etnier (1903-1984) depicting the village of Harpswell, Maine were he built his home and studio in the 1940s and lived until his death. Etnier was a close friend and student of Rockwell Kent and they shared a lifelong fascination with the rugged coast of Maine. Inscribed to a friend.

    Repaired: There appear to be a few small areas of inpainting. Wear consistent with age and use. There is a slight ripple to the canvas visible when viewed at certain angles in bright light.
