About the Item
A bright and airy oil painting of Paris on stretched canvas made by Romanian painter Mariana Elas. The artwork is signed and dated 1990 in the lower left corner (see photo). Mariana Elas was born in Romania in 1957 and she is today a well established artist and teacher with a multitude of exhibitions and rewards to her very active career. She is currently teaching art at the École Supérieure d'Art "Romulus Ladea" in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
From the label on the back, it seems like this painting, called "Paris", was once part of an exhibition in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The painting is sold unframed.
In good vintage condition. The painting has not been cleaned, I leave that decision up to the new owner. The stretched canvas is in good condition: no holes or tears. The painting shows minor signs of wear (minor scratches on the surface) consistent with age.

It is very likely that it has been painted in this region as well since the wine bottles and the tall glass depicted have the typical shapes of Alsace wine bottles wine glasses. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner and dated December (XII) 1960. In addition, as can be seen in the lower left corner, the painting has been dedicated to René Fullgraff (In Memoriam). The artist has efficiently experimented with contrasts of dark shadows and lighter, sharp reflections in this artwork. There is also a visible study of vertical and horizontal lines still visible.
