About the Item
This inspiring portrait of a young lady who's holding a pomegranate is part of a photographic series. The name of the series of special photographic works by the Amsterdam photographer Marie-José van den Ende is 'Lof der schilderkunst' which means 'Praise of painting'. The distinguished portraits of contemporary (young) people against a dark background are reminiscent of Dutch painting in the Golden Age. The particular play with daylight and artificial light contributes the illusion. The titles of the works in this series (seven pieces in total) are inspired by titles and verses of poets and writers from the same time.
The portrait is printed directly on aluminum, which creates a reflection, depending on the light.
