About the Item
A framed poster of a 1954 watercolour by Marc Chagall (1887-1985, Belarus, France. "Vence. Cité des Arts et des Fleurs, 1954" is a poster by Marc Chagall. The illustration was originally created as a watercolor to celebrate Easter (Fêtes De Pâques) in the town of Vence, the "city of arts and flowers," in the south of France. The image was then printed by Fernand Mourlot in 1954 in poster form. This print is vibrant in color. The printed signature "Marc Chagall", the date "1954" and the word "Vence" is visible in the lower right hand portion of the print.
This print does not show the wording above and below as in the Mourlot version but it may be underneath the mat. The image itself is the same as that in the Mourlot poster. As the print has not been examined out of the frame I am describing the image as a poster and not a lithograph. The price is reflective of this distinction.
