Original vintage poster - BP Ethyl Controls Horse Power - featuring a stunning modernist Art Deco graphic design by the Italian artist Paolo Garretto (1903-1989). Dynamic airbrush shaded image of a man restraining and harnessing power from an elegant horse rearing up against the dark background with the shadowed bold text BP Ethyl running diagonally in line with the horse, the rest of the text in yellow letters below. Garreto's artwork reflects the poster designed by Edward McKnight Kauffer for BP Ethyl the previous year. Founded in 1909, the British oil and gas company BP (British Petroleum Company plc; now BP plc) is based in London and is now one of the largest energy companies in the world. Large size. Horizontal. Good condition, restored scratches, scuffs and minor tears, backed on linen.
