Additional Details: Poster to promote tourism in the Brioni Islands in the 1930s/40s. The Brioni Islands (Brijuni) are a group of fourteen small islands currently Croatian, but having been under Italian domination between 1918 and 1945. It was during this period that this poster was produced. The islands are from this period a resort for a high-end clientele made up of elite guests from all over Europe. In order to attract the maximum number of tourists, polo and golf are developing. In 1923, the first golf tournament was organized, and in 1924 the first polo tournament. In this poster a polo player on his horse is in the foreground while a female golf player swings in front of an idyllic landscape. Sea, beaches, port and hotels characterize these islands.
