About the Item
Original vintage train travel poster - Visit Dover Castle - featuring artwork by the notable commercial artist and poster designer Reginald Montague Lander (1913-1980) depicting a family walking around the historic Constable's Tower and Gate of the 12th century medieval Dover Castle in white with the trees over a green background, the title above with the rest of the text and British Rail logo below - Awayday fare from this station - along with a description of the defensive Castle's history and site that dominates the White Cliffs of Dover with a view from the keep tower to France, a symbol against conquerors known as the Key of England and home to a Roman lighthouse, now a popular port town for tourists with modern shops and crossings to Europe by hovercraft from Dover to Calais in 30 minutes and to Boulogne in 35 minutes, and hourly fast trains from London Victoria and Charing Cross. The British hovercraft company Seaspeed operated services across the English Channel from 1965-1981 with British Rail and SNCF in France. Screen Printed by Planet Displays.
