Pair of ART NOUVEAU advertising panels in the style of Alphonse Mucha
About the Item
A pair of rare art nouveau advertising panels in the style of Alphonse Mucha.
Each panel with a centre illustration of a woman portrayed in Mucha's classic style. Mucha's female images encapsulate the essence of Art Nouveau, characterised by its emphasis on decorative arts, organic forms, and a harmonious integration of various elements. His work had a significant influence on the development of the Art Nouveau style and continues to be celebrated for its beauty and elegance.
Around the centre image there is an embossed and gilt painted border which extends to the bottom corner of the centre image and the upper most corners of the panels. To the top and sides of the panels there is hand applied typography with the words " Huileries et Savonneries de Lurian, Savon Extra pur Alhambra, Savon Superieur Gironde" (Lurian Oil Mills and Soap Factory, Alhambra Extra Pure Soap, Gironde Superieur Soap).
The panels have some discolouration (one more than the other), but they are generally in good condition with no tears.
