Renaldo and Clara
About the Item
Original British film poster for the 1978 film Renaldo and Clara. This film was directed by Bob Dylan and was written by Dylan and Sam Shepard. It stars Bob Dylan, Sara Dylan and Joan Baez, alongside performances by many artists, including Joni Mitchell, all of whom were in Dylan's close circle. The film was made before and during Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue tour, and includes film footage from the tour, documentary interviews and strange ad lib descriptive scenes. The film was released in only a limited number of cinemas in its four-hour form, but unfortunately, owing to poor revues, was discontinued after a couple of weeks. A two-hour version of the film was released later in the year, which mainly focused on the concert footage.
