Early 19th Appliqué Collage Sir Percival Radcliffe 3rd Baronet of Rudding Park

About the Item

A beautiful applique collage of late Georgian silkwork figures and decorative section, no doubt from a larger textile hanging. They have later been to remounted in 19th century into a period ebonised and gilt slip frame. The pine backing has an inked inscription "Sir Percy Ratcliff (sic) Rudding Park, Harrogate". This refers to Sir J. Percival Pickford Radcliffe, 1824-1908, later 3rd Baronet. The piece is in overall good condition, with the silkwork being vibrant and the majority of the textiles to be in solid condition, there are two sections of green felt the top section would appear to be original to the figures and the bottom section a replacement when the piece was mounted in the 19th century. Glazed, original period frame. Measures 69.5 cm x 65 cm.
