18th Century French Painted Carved Wood Pediment
About the Item
This rather large “fronton” or pediment spent the last 250 years dominating the entrance doors to an hotel particulier — or city mansion — in Lyon, France. Made of carved wood that was then painted, it is composed of 2 pieces that connect in the center, and can be affixed in a variety of manners. This elegant piece could serve as a large headboard element, or hang in a large space.
