About the Item
A wonderfully scaled Sergio Bustamante wall sculpture. Sergio Bustamante (Mexican, b. 1942). Polychromed papier-mache wall sculpture Sergio Bustamante studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara and sold his artwork while in school, beginning in 1960. After graduating, he worked with local ceramicists, eventually opened his own studio, and sold work to Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Harrods department stores. In the early 1970s, he traveled to Amsterdam, where he further developed his talents. After his return to Guadalajara, he established in 1975, along with other artists, the "Family Workshop Studio" in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico. this sun is signed and numbered but it was repainted in 1997 by another artist as shown in the picture this makes this piece unique and unusual.
