Large Ethiopian Hide Shield
About the Item
A beautifully sculptural and three dimensional animal hide shield from Ethiopia. This fabulous handmade object was formed by carefully shaping the leather over stones to create its distinctive pattern and appearance. This piece displays wear as well as distinctive faded red markings in the center. The interior of the piece is also fascinating, with its well-used leather handle and straps. A wonderful art object and terrific conversation piece.
