Pulling together various inspirations Gjoen creates a multilayered artwork of discovery. The more you look the more you find, which is true to his method of starting each piece with research. The base of the camouflage depicts the ceiling of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo’s “Nuptial Allegory” at the Ca’ Rezzonico in Venice. The trompe l’œil of the ceiling creating depth and layers drawing us into the picture. Two still lifes from Gjoen’s private collection intertwine to create an imaginative multifaceted reality.
