In 1875 the Anglo-Swiss company, Ziegler and Co., produced exquisite carpets in the Sultanabad region of western Persia. They married tradition with innovation by employing designers from New York and London to modify traditional designs to suit western market tastes. Ziegler & Co. started the collaboration between European design and Persian technique and set the standard for rug production in Persia.
