Mid-Victorian Micro Mosaic Bangle Bracelet

About the Item

An exceptional micro mosaic bracelet from the Mid-Victorian (circa 1860) era! Made of vibrant 18kt yellow gold, this bangle style bracelet displays an incredible micro mosaic design on the front that carries all the way around the outer surface. The design is comprised of alternating circle and diamond shapes that are raised above the gold surface, each depicting a symbol or tiny scene represented by micro mosaic craftsmanship. Tiny tiles with vivid colors have been meticulously hand set into each image, with depictions that include a night sky with a crescent moon and stars, a peace dove, a fiery sun, and a bouquet of flowers on one side. The other side of the bracelet includes a sprig of wheat, a sea animal, a second dove, a scenic landscape, and a grape bunch with leaves. Arrow-shaped micro mosaic accents line the top and bottom of each side, completing the design beautifully. Each mosaic representation is so fine, they almost look like paintings. A delicate twisted wirework border frames the bracelet along the top and the bottom and pillar-like hinges with a Roman inspired style can be found on each side. One of the pillars serves as the clasp, with a tab that pulls down and unlocks the hinge so that the bracelet can open. A truly fantastic example of fine micro mosaic work, this outstanding bracelet looks simply fabulous when worn. It would make a statement all on its own, or could be paired with other complimentary bangles for a fashionable stacked look! Measurements: The interior diameter of the bracelet (where your wrist would rest) measures 2 1/4" wide and 2" tall. The surface of the bracelet measures approximately 5/8" wide and is 1/8" thick. Each pillar hinge measures 1 1/8" tall.

Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting and the mosaic pictures are in excellent condition.
