The Blood & Pride Ladder Bracelet, Handmade Caribbean Seed Ware

About the Item

The original variation of this design has been exclusively tailored for sale at The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History & Culture. This is a ladder design variation of our most popular bracelet design. This unique 8” x .5” bracelet is inspired by the flag of Antigua and Barbuda and the Pan-African Flag. The wild tamarind seeds dyed black represent the black in both flags symbolizing Black peoples. In contrast, the six petal-floral patterns accentuated with the red of the jumbie bead seeds highlight the Blood shed for the sake of liberation and the blood that unites us all across the diaspora—perfectly closing with a wild tamarind and jumbie bead seed loop and button. It inspires all that wear this bracelet to embody its symbolism. Botaniqué allows the consumer to explore and celebrate African history, albeit under the jurisdiction of the diaspora. The painstaking process of creating these crafts represents the stamina of the people and the traditions who made the journey from the African Continent. This craft is of such value that its preservation and development should be an essential element of efforts to enliven African culture among the diaspora. This item is from our Sui Generis line. Sui Generis is a Latin-derived phrase meaning one of a kind, which summarizes the pieces of this collection. Every Sui Generis piece is unique and has a stock of one. If you purchase anything from this collection, you will be the only one to have it, as these items are rare patterns and do not restock. You may use ideas from any of these designs in the creation of a custom item (email to inquire), as with all our wares. Still, these specific pieces you must buy while you can before they’re gone forever.
