About the Item
An antique yellow gold, platinum, diamond bracelet / brooch, comprising seventeen old European cut diamonds, and twelve rose cut diamonds, set in platinum, backed in 18 karat yellow gold, with an 18 karat yellow gold brooch fitting, and yellow metal bespoke tool.
This beautiful bracelet is a truly exquisite piece of design, toeing the line between Edwardian and Art Deco design. The bracelet comprises of a central section, crafted by three diamond set marquise shaped panels, connected by diamond links. The central marquise shaped panel is set with a large old European cut diamond, which is elegantly bezel set in platinum. The large diamond is flanked by a pair of smaller old European cut diamonds, also bezel set in platinum. The diamonds are cleverly set, allowing them to appear as if they were floating. At either end of the marquise shape are two smaller old European cut diamonds and rose cut diamonds intersperse the larger diamonds. This design is replicated on the two outer marquise shaped panels. The central diamond adorned section is attached to a platinum and yellow gold bracelet, which fastens securely with a box clasp and is secured with a figure-of-8 safety catch.
The bracelet links can be unscrewed from the central diamond set section, by way of the bespoke tool. The diamond set section can then be fastened to the brooch fitting, allowing the piece to be worn both as a bracelet, and a brooch. The bracelet also comes with a spare link, allowing the bracelet to be made larger. The brooch fitting, spare link, and bespoke tool are stored beneath the black velvet bracelet pad, within the original case.
The diamonds are bright, white, sparkly, and well matched with one another. The larger diamonds have good symmetry and are well cut, being round in shape. The clarity and colour of the diamonds is good, and the rose cut diamonds are bright and white too.
Convertible pieces of jewellery, such as this, are now scarce, and it is particularly rare to find them in their original fitted case, complete with all the fittings and the tool, as pieces from the set are often lost over time. The bracelet / brooch is in excellent condition. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
