Modernist organic bracelet designed by Gilbert Albert (1930-2919) for Gubelin. Gorgeous piece from the modernism period circa 1960, created in Switzerland by Gilbert Albert for the house of Gubelin. It was crafted, with organic maritime elements from the sea in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with heavily textured patterns imitating the reefs and coral formations from the the bottom of the sea. Composed by 6 elaborated free-forms links attached together by oval links and suited, with a fold over clasp with a hinged figure 8 for extra security Each links is embellished with round carvings of natural Philippines abalone shell of 24 mm and are accented at top with 6 natural round white pearls of 5 mm. Have a total weight of 67.5 grams and have a length of 8.25 inches, can be shortened or enlarged adding/removing links Stamped, with the maker's mark, the swiss gold assay hallmarks and signed, "GUBELIN .750". Gilbert Albert, born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1930, is a jewelry designer and one of the most influential jeweler artist of the 20th and 21th century with more than 10 world award winning prizes. He made important sculptural jewelry works for the Patek Philippe company and he worked there as part of the designer team. He was head of the workshop from the 1955 to 1962, during which time he designed his signature asymmetrical watches for the company. Mr. Albert took his inspiration from his passion for modern art, notably works by Brancusi and Mondrian. In 1962 after leaving the Patek Philippe Co, he founded an opened his own firm at rue de la Corraterie in Geneva where one of his workshops is located still today. He also worked for the Omega SA Watch Company. Recently he opened boutique stores in Paris and New York city. The Gubelin house was founded in 1854 when Mauritz Breitschmid opened a watchmaker's shop on the Pfistergasse in Lucerne. a few years later, in 1861, Eduard Jakob Gübelin was born in eastern Switzerland. he subsequently moved to Lucerne and was apprenticed to the watchmaker Mauritz Breitschmid. The year 1886 marked a special occasion in the young watchmaker's life as Eduard Jakob Gübelin married bertha Sophia Breitschmid, the daughter of his old master. In the same year, the two men became business partners, managing the growing company together. In the 1920s Gübelin opened its own jewelry atelier and at the same time set up a small gemological laboratory so that it could test – and be sure of the authenticity – of the stones its jewelers used. It also continued making and repairing fine watches for a discerning clientele, developing a reputation that soon reached throughout Europe and overseas. Since 1854, the house of Gübelin has always been in the hands of the family and led by a family member throughout time the Gübelin family carefully nurtured its traditions. It kept the company’s core values alive and passed them on to the next generation which contributed to the success and growth of the swiss house. Very impressive art-piece with outstanding craftsmanship, a truly collector's piece. It is in perfect condition with all the vintage patina intact. This unique bracelet was crafted in solid 18 karats yellow gold and is suited, with an integrated boxed push lock, with a figure 8 for extra security. The craftmanship and the assembling are exceptional, realized by multiples links attached together by invisible pins. Embellished with very fine natural gemstones. all of them are carefully calibrated and are described as follow; prong set with 29 round brilliants cuts of natural Colombian green emeralds with a combined weight of 2.90 carats. They are completely transparent, with great vivid color saturation and not treated with oil. Burnish set, with 87 round brilliants cut diamonds, 1.74 carats, E/F color, VS-1 clarity. Have a weight of 33.6 grams and a length of 7 inches (20.7 cm). signed and stamped with the hallmarks, "Gubelin Swiss Made .750".     A magnificent ring designed by Gilbert Albert (1930-2019) for Patek Philippe. This extremely rare piece was created in Switzerland back in the 1960 by the talented jeweler-artist Gilbert Albert for the Patek Philippe Company. A one-of a-kind piece, called in that time, "Pepites avec Perle" (nugget with pearl) crafted in solid 18 karats of yellow, rose and white gold, with heavily textured surfaces. The technique used to realize this piece is extremely difficult, because each gold elements need to be placed together, piece by piece forming the organized geometric effect of the final composition. Is embellished at top, with a natural large white pearl of 13.5 mm by 18.2 mm. Has a total weight of 40.7 grams and the actual ring size is 7, sizeable. The top view measures are 30 mm by 28 mm (1.18 x 1.10 Inches). Stamped, with the maker's mark PP for Patek Philippe, the swiss gold assay hallmarks and signed, "PP CO. .750", all inside a cartouche. Christies notes: "It was designed by the famous Geneva jeweler Gilbert Albert in the 1961, who was awarded for this creation called "Pépites avec Perles" or "gold nuggets with pearls" the "Prix de la Ville de Genève de la Montre et de la Joaillerie" in the category "Montre dame bijou, sans pierres" on 9 September 1960." Note: This ring was designed En-suite, with a wristwatch that was made in Switzerland back in 1960 and sold at Christie's Geneva, on may 18 2004.
