Antique 1780 Georgian Brooch Miniature Pencil Drawing on Paper Silver Paste
About the Item
This chaming piece of jewellery was created around 1780 as a clasp for a bracelet or necklace. In the early 19th century it was converted into a brooch.
The pencil drawing shows the portrait of an elegant lady wearing a fur trimmed jacket, large earrings and a head ornament.
The x-shaped safety mechanism is a later addition.
The brooch could be restored to it's original function by means of laser and making a new tongue for the clasp. However this would involve quite severe extra costs.
