Antique silver and paste swallow brooch, Victorian

About the Item

A sweet antique Victorian era sterling silver and paste swallow brooch. The brooch is made from cool silver and is adorned all over with twinkling clear paste stones with a ruby coloured paste eye. The swallow was steeped in symbolism in the Victorian era and often these jewels were given as love token gifts as a promise to return safely home and provide protection. They were also known to represent love, loyalty and faithfulness. It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener.
