Art Deco Fancy Yellow Diamond & Natural Pearl Brooch/Clip GIA Certified
About the Item
This glorious, diabolically clever piece hails from the Art Deco era (circa 1920s). It is a brooch rendered in gleaming platinum and measuring approximately 42mm long and 21mm wide that features a pair of creamy-white natural (non-cultured) saltwater pearls. This rare pair of precious natural pearls measure 5.8mm and 5.63mm. These lustrous pearls are accompanied by a pair of bright, fancy yellow old-mine cut diamonds, each weighing approximately .50 carats. There are two additional fancy yellow old-mine diamonds paired together at each end. Small white diamonds occupy the remainder of the brooch for a total diamond weight of approximately 2.28 carats.
On the back of the brooch, you will see the brooch clasp (a later replacement). You will also see that each side of the brooch is an individual piece and that each piece is a clip. Open one clip, the pin slides out. Open the second clip, the pin is released and you now have a pair of triangular clips you may wear as you wish. These "dress clips" became popular in the 1920s but fell out of favor in the Midcentury. However, they are perfect for today because they allow you to express your own unique styled. Wear the clips on the neck of a dress, the collars of a shirt —anywhere you like. Or reassemble the clips and the pin to create a more traditional brooch.
This unisex piece is a dramatic, impressive piece. The yellow diamonds are simply stunning. And natural sea pearls are among the rarest gems in the world, treasured for centuries for their luminous beauty.
