Art Nouveau Grasshopper Brooch
About the Item
A vintage gold mounted grasshopper brooch, the body set with a mabe pearl and the head set with diamonds with ruby eye, all to a realistically carved gold body, circa 1930, measuring approximately 3.1x7.4cm, gross weight 23.8 grams.
An exquisitely crafted vintage gold brooch in the form of a grasshopper. Its sinuous, naturalistic form and elegant interpretation of the natural world is a hallmark of this piece. Featuring a mabe pearl body with a lustrous hue and a diamond and ruby set head, it has a delicately carved gold body. This wonderful piece comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
