Edwardian Enamel and Natural Pearl Pendant or Brooch
About the Item
An Edwardian enamel and natural pearl pendant/brooch, to the centre an old European-cut diamond estimated to weigh 0.4 carats, surrounded by green, yellow and red champleve enamel scrolls and leaves, flanked with smaller old-cut diamonds and pearls, suspending two swags of seed pearls, all mounted in yellow gold, with foldable pendant loop and detachable brooch fitting, circa 1900, measuring approximately 4.2 x 3cm, gross weight 13.4 grams.
Edwardian brooch in Very good Condition. Unmarked tested as 18ct gold, pin tested as 9ct gold.
This stunning piece comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Edwardian jewellery often featured naturalistic motifs, like the climbing vines and leaves emphasized in this piece, which can be worn as either a pendant or a brooch. The brilliant colors of the enamel pair beautifully with the natural pearls and diamonds, creating a vibrant and wonderful piece that would look fabulous as either a brooch on a jacket or a pendant worn on a thick Victorian chain.
