About the Item

Georgian convertible brooch and pendant. Magnificent antique piece, created in the United Kingdom during the Georgian period, circa 1810. This is a convertible pendant brooch with gemstones and It was carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and accented with application of black enamel. Embellished with a gorgeous selection of natural emeralds and rose cuts diamonds. It is fitted at the reverse with a hinged pin bar with a security lock to wear as a brooch and a removable piece to wear as a pendant. It should be noted that the emeralds used in this piece are of exceptional quality. Seeing pieces from this period with emeralds of this quality is very rare and difficult. Usually these pieces with precious stones were disassembled during the Victorian period to create new pieces. This is a great piece of great rarity, with an excellent craftsmanship and collector's item. Diamonds: Accented with 10 old European rose cut diamonds, 1.20 carats, F/G/H color, SI-1 clarity. Emerald: Mount in the center in a bezel setting, with 1 cushion modified brilliant cut (8.95 x 8.65 x 6 mm) of a natural Colombian green emerald of about 2.83 carats. Emeralds: Mounted around with 7 mixed cuts of natural Colombian vivid green translucent emeralds, with a combined weight of 2.45 carats. Note: The emeralds displayed in this piece, are from the Muzo region in Colombia, with great color saturation, vivid green and transparent with no inclusions. Muzo is a town and municipality in the western Bocaya province, part of the department of Bocaya, Colombia. It is widely known as the world capital of emeralds for the mines containing the world's highest quality gems of this type. Birthstone: Emerald for the month of May. Weight: 33.11 Grams, (21.22 Dwt). Measurements: 40 mm by 85 mm (1.58 x 3.35 Inches). Hallmarks: No marks, tested for 18 karats gold. Inventory Number 44939 and indistinctive other marks. Georgian Jewelry (Circa 1714 - 1840). Like the term Victorian (used for jewelry during Queen Victoria's rule), it is accepted in use as a term that refers to certain styles of jewelry. Pearls, sapphires, rubies and garnets were widely used in Georgian jewellery, often cut in the shape of a cabochon or teardrop. Rubies and pearls were a fashionable combination at the time.
