Late Victorian Gem-Set Butterfly Brooch
About the Item
A late Victorian gem-set butterfly brooch, the body is a gold spring terminating to a natural pearl, the eyes set with two cabochon-cut rubies, the wings set with two oval-shaped rubies estimated to weigh 0.35 carats in total, two square-cut emeralds estimated to weigh 0.1 carats in total and forty rose-cut diamonds estimated to weigh 1 carat in total, all set in platinum and 18ct yellow gold back, bearing French import gold mark, circa 1900, measuring approximately 2.1 x 1.9 cm, gross weight 3.9 grams.
French marks, tested as 18ct and platinum. Victorian brooch in excellent condition.
