Late Victorian Red Enamel Lozenge-Shaped Brooch
About the Item
A late Victorian red enamel lozenge-shaped brooch, thirteen old-cut diamonds set on silver cut-down settings to a red background, surrounded by a white enamel boarder to a pearl surround, all to a yellow gold mount, circa 1880, measuring approximately 3.6 x 2.2cm, gross weight 7.8 grams.
This late Victorian brooch is in very good condition. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold front and 14ct gold pin.
This beautiful late nineteenth century brooch comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. It features a navette-shaped plaque decorated with red guilloché enamel and set with dazzling diamonds. The border of the brooch features white enamel with yellow gold decorations and a further border of lustrous natural pearls. This beautiful piece would be an elegant addition to the centre front of an evening gown.
